How to Make it to 70 Fully Alive. Don’t…….

Do you want to avoid recliner rot?

This post is a letter from a lady I call the 70 year old princess.  She is excited about living fully alive and believe me, it shows. I purposely did not include her picture here but you will see it when you read her letter in the post. Elaine has the kind of attitude that keeps a person young.

And if you wonder about the words in the last sentence of her letter, they only make sense if you read the book, so read the book.  But here’s a hint.  A rolling stone gathers no moss.  Neither does a moving person.  Enjoy Ken, I just finished reading “Fully Alive”.  WOW !!!!!!!  as your grandson would say.

I am a 70 year old woman who does not want to die of what I call recliner rot.  Since June, I have been in a slump as far as exercise is concerned and have fallen back into bad eating habits. After church this past Sunday, I said to my husband — there has got to be more than this!

I am so fearful of becoming “comfortable with being comfortable”.  I want to be about life and mission and purpose and being engaged in life.

Your book has ignited that in me afresh. I, too, read “Younger Next Year” and found it very helpful , but needed the boost your book has given me. I am so proud of you for making the changes in your life that you have, and I feel sure that this book will cause others to do the
same. As I read your book I realize that my spiritual zeal has also lagged, so thank you for igniting in me the desire to know Him more fully.

Your book was just the catalyst I needed to  FULLY LIVE! Thank you and let us continue to “run the race set before us”. I do not want any “moss growing on my butt” (even though I never use this word). Blessings, Elaine

Elaine and her family. Elaine is on the far right! Oh, that I should look so good at 70!

So how do you make it to 70 fully alive..

Don’t…. give up.  I have to restart my efforts to live fully alive all the time.  How about you?

  1. HA! I love the part – “although I never use that word”. Hilarious. Elaine – congratulations on your new found love for living Fully Alive! You are beautiful!!

  2. Just picked up Fully Alive book and study this week at Portland WOF. I am obese, my temple is in ruin, but yesterday I went to the YMCA and worked out in the pool for an hour. Today my grands and I will take a family spin class…I may not make it to the end,but I have a goal to reach. Blessings for your humor and candor!
