Live like a dog

A dog is a man’s best friend. If you don’t believe this, put your dog and your friend in the trunk of the car for an hour. When you open the trunk, who is really happy to see you!

It is said that C.S. Lewis, who loved dogs, once stated that dogs give us a hint of what true worship should be like.

Think of it. A dog is miserable and gets into all kinds of trouble when its master is gone and filled with ecstatic joy when in the master’s presence.

A dog is obedient.
A good dog is constantly looking to you for direction and giddy with the opportunity to please you.

That’s the difference between dogs and cats. I have told my cat hundreds of times to “Sic em” and I get nothing but a blank stare or that condescending “are you out of your mind” look. I tell my dog to “Sic em” and he will take off not even knowing what he’s suppose to “Sic.” Often in the direction of the Cat.

A dog’s attitude is one of service and worship. You pet me, you feed me, you put a roof over my head. You must be God! A cat’s attitude is rebellious and independent, “You pet me, you feed me, you put a roof over my head. I must be God.”

Yep, I think we need to be a little more like dogs.

  1. I love dogs and hate cats! Now I hate that I can behave so much like a cat. Thanks, Ken.

  2. Great thoughts. My sons are asking for a dog. My reply so far has been absolutely not. You’ve given me food for thought!
